You can’t judge a book by its cover. The same thing is also true for a video game. I bypassed Clubhouse Games numerous times because it looked like a boring game. But I read online that it was a Nintendo DS top game, so I decided to give it a try. That was a good decision.
A Good Collection of Games
Clubhouse Games is a collection of more than 40 board, action, and card games. You really get your money’s worth with this game.
There’s practically something for everyone. Kids can play darts, bowling, Old Maid, checkers, and many of the other game easy enough for a kid to play. And of course, there’s plenty here for adults and teens to enjoy too.
There are more than 40 games in this collection, so I won’t list them all. The games include:
Blackjack, Texas Hold Em, Bowling (one of my favorites), Darts (one of my favorites), Checkers, Chinese Checkers, Go Fish, Rummy, Spades, Hearts, Memory, Dominoes, Backgammon, Turncoat, Dot and Boxes
Playing the Games
You can play the games against the computer or with friends (with a WiFi connection). If you don’t know how to play a game, that’s fine. Detailed instructions are provided so it’s easy to learn how to play everything. And you will need the instructions because some of the games are obscure.
The interface is easy to understand and use. Like most of the Nintendo DS games, this one requires the stylus. You drag and drop your cards or game pieces to where you want them. You also use the stylus to aim your darts, throw the bowling ball, and to line-up your shots when playing billiards.
A Minor Flaw
Some of the card games are repetitive. Sometimes you’ll find yourself playing a game that seems exactly the same as another. That’s because some of the card games share rules that are very similar. However, the large selection of games in this collection make-up for the ones that feel like repeats.
In addition to a nice collection of starting games, you can also unlock new games as you progress. You can also unlock additional backgrounds and in-game icons.
A Good Collection
This game is more fun than the box cover suggests. I’d seen this game many times but practically ignored it because of the boring cover. I’m glad I finally took the time to read the box. You’ll spend a lot of time playing this game.
