Many people want to go to the casino, but don’t like playing on the tables. For those that feel this way, there are a bevy of machines to choose from. You don’t have to worry about other players, table rules, or any other kind of distraction while your enjoying your time at the casino. I want to give you a glimpse at both slot machines and video poker. While they’re in similar boxes, these are two completely different types of machines that do completely different things. It’s important to remember that. The rules are different and the odds are different.
Slot machines – Slot machines of the past were fairly simple devices. You place a coin in the machine, pulled the lever & crossed your fingers. If your number came up you were rewarded with the clink of coins in the tray & if not, you were out a quarter & had to try again. Today the machines are much more sophisticated than in the past. The complexity of today’s machines means that casinos are making even more money off slot players and it’s even harder to win now.
Slot machines are the most popular game in the casino, hands down. They also provide some of the worst odds in joint. No wonder they’re crowding the majority of the floor in every casino you visit – they make the house a ton of money. People love to play slot machines.
You can find these machines in a variety of flavors and betting increments, from pennies all the way to dollars. Picking the correct game to play on these machines is essential. The more complex the game, the worse your odds. Remember that, it will make your pennies (or dollars) go further.
Video Poker – Like the real table game, video poker actually requires skill. In contrast to the pure luck that you must have when playing slot machines, video poker machines can reward you with some good payouts if you play your virtual cards right. Unlike the regular table game, however, video poker has it’s own unique strategy, depending on what variety of video poker you’re playing. While a complete rundown of these strategies are outside the scope of this article, know that, while slot machines offer the worst odds in a casino, when played correctly video poker offers the best.
