Do you love the idea of having a slot machine in your home? The famous one armed bandit is a source of a lot of joy for casual gamblers and dedicated ones alike, and if you love the thrill of silver coins spilling into the basket and even into your lap, you are going to discover that the slot machine might be something that would make a great addition to your home.

Take some time and make sure that you consider what your options are going to be when you are thinking about bringing a slot machine into your home. There are some stunning models out there and if you are interested in bringing one home for your friends and family to enjoy, there are a number of things that you need to keep in mind.

The first thing that you need to consider when you are thinking about slot machines and about purchasing one for private use is whether it is illegal for you! The regulations that govern the use and purchase of slot machines will vary from state to state, and if you want to make sure that the slot machines that you are interested in are on the level for you, you need to do some research into the laws of your state.

For instance, you may be in a state that does not allow slot machines at all; there are a small handful that are fairly hard line about this. Then there are states that will allow antique machines, but you still have to figure out what antique means.

For instance, in Idaho, a machine is considered an antique if it was made before 1950 and operates using only mechanized parts. This means that more current digital machines are going to right out! Still other states say that the machine must be 25 years old or older, and there are some states that have no regulations at all.

Once you have determined what kind of slot machine you can buy, there are going to be a number of things that you should think about. For instance, are you in a place where you can take care of the slot machine on your own?

If you can purchase a slot machine legally from a company, the machine will come with a warranty and you will also find that it is going to come with the availability of tech support as well. Of course, this is not going to be available for older machines and if you can learn more about servicing them yourself before you buy, that might be a good idea.

Remember that slot machines are fairly large and heavy, especially after they are loaded, so make sure that you plan out where you are going to put them. Do you have a stand that is sturdy enough to hold the slot machine up, and do you have seating that is fairly comfortable to sit at?

Take some time and think about what your options are going to be when you want to consider moving forward with a slot machine in your home. Designing the setting is nearly as important as getting a hold of the right machine in the first place!

Did you know that …

... the first mechanical slot machine was the Liberty Bell, invented in 1895 by car mechanic, Charles Fey (1862-1944) of San Francisco?

The Liberty Bell slot machine had three spinning reels. Diamond, spade, and heart symbols were painted around each reel, plus the image of a cracked Liberty Bell. A spin resulting in three Liberty Bells in a row gave the biggest payoff, a grand total of fifty cents or ten nickels.

The original Liberty Bell slot machine can still be seen at the Liberty Belle Saloon & Restaurant in Reno, Nevada.
