Be A Better Gambler

We all try to be better gamblers. These gambling tips are just basics to get you started. If you’re really serious, you can learn more. For example, you can read an entire book for information on bankroll management alone. Here are some good gambling tips:

Learn all you can

Learn, study and practice. All casino games have different odds. Even the different bets in the same game such as Craps can have vastly different odds. Some are bets to stay away from, known as sucker bets. These are the bets that have a huge house edge.

Know the games

Don’t play any casino game unless you know it really well. It’s one thing to spend a little money while learning a game or just having some fun. But it’s another thing entirely to play a game over and over without knowing the details of odds, strategies, etc.

Learn a few games well

It’s okay to prefer one game, but you should know a few games really well. There will be times when it’s better to walk away from a game. Maybe your frame of mind just isn’t going well at that time or the game is too hot, sometimes you need to take a break and play another game for a while.

Slots are only recreation

Show me one gambler that’s played slots a long time and has won a lot and I’ll show you either someone that got lucky by hitting a very large jackpot or a liar. Slots are for fun, not for profit. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying them sometimes, but don’t make this your main game.

Any tip is a loss

This is just practical in the world of real gambling. It’s a common courtesy for players to tip the dealers or the cocktail waitresses. This is just fine, but it’s money lost, so you need to think of it as such. If you’re playing and you’re up $10 when the cocktail waitress comes around look at it this way. If you tip $1, you’ve just lost 10 % of your profits. I’m not saying don’t tip, but you need to consider it money lost. All money out is money lost.

Like the games you play

It doesn’t matter if Baccarat (banker) is the best bet in the house if you don’t enjoy the game at all. You’ve got to like what you’re playing. If you don’t, you’ll just be bored and get lazy. That’s how money gets lost for sure. Stick with what you love to play. You’ll enjoy it and be more lucky too. That’s the way to be a better gambler.

Did you know that …

... the first mechanical slot machine was the Liberty Bell, invented in 1895 by car mechanic, Charles Fey (1862-1944) of San Francisco?

The Liberty Bell slot machine had three spinning reels. Diamond, spade, and heart symbols were painted around each reel, plus the image of a cracked Liberty Bell. A spin resulting in three Liberty Bells in a row gave the biggest payoff, a grand total of fifty cents or ten nickels.

The original Liberty Bell slot machine can still be seen at the Liberty Belle Saloon & Restaurant in Reno, Nevada.
