The first thing you need to do is determine how tight or loose the strategy is. Tighter strategies play better hole cards and you will be playing less hands per hour. Looser strategies play more marginal hole cards and you will be playing more hands per hour.
The thing to do here is to determine what type of player you would like to be like, how many pots you would like to be playing at and the style of the game you would like to play. Then, make sure the strategy is in line with that.
If you want easy decisions and top hands then tight will be better. If you want more action and a fun game then loose will be better. Don’t choose a tight strategy if you can’t stand sitting around waiting for great hole cards.

The next thing to do is take a look at the better strategy. Is is passive? Is it aggressive? Does it incorporate things like over the top reraises, check raises or all-ins?
Now, you need to take a look at both your wallet and your heart. How much money can you afford to pay to play. Can you afford an expensive, aggressive strategy that might see massive chunks of cash come out of your bankroll before it all comes back?
Are you the type of person that likes to risk a lot of money playing poker or do you like to be safe and conservative? If you aren’t too keen on putting massive amounts of cash in don’t rely on a super-aggressive bullying strategy that requires you to practically all-in every hand.
The Ultimate Texas Poker Strategy Requirement #3
Take another look at the strategy and make a bit of a judgement as to how much of the decisions/steps/actions are being left for you to decide by yourself. I.e. is everything single thing outlines and explained or are you going to have to fly solo a bit.
Now, think about what you would really like. If you are a newer player with less confidence you’ll probably want a more detailed, constrictive strategy to assure success. If you are a bit more mature you might detest that and just want a general overview of the strategy so that you can implement it yourself, with your own touch.
