Las Vegas and Atlantic City are the world’s two most popular locations for people who chance their luck in casinos. Billions are transacted here and people turn kings or paupers. Ocean’s Eleven is the movie that immediately comes to mind when thinking of casinos. However, if one browses the Internet, it can be seen that more and more people are now turning to something called live casino, these live casinos are nothing but the online versions of traditional casinos. They offer gamblers to play and wager on casino websites on the Internet.

There are innumerable online live casino websites that offer a host of games to be played. A click here and there and one can start off. Unlike the land casinos like Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the main mode of money is credit cards. Have a card? Start spending and earning, if luck permits.

As in the land casinos, live casinos also offer a gamut of different game options. The basics remain the same, the designs vary. The games can be card based, like Blackjack, Deuces, Poker and Baccarat, or with dice, like Backgammon and Sic Bo. One can also play games like Bingo, Keno and Roulette. And then there are the slot machines, where one can spend hours, trying to match the images and have the machine guzzle out heaps of coins.

The most popular live casino games are probably Blackjack, Backgammon, Poker and Bingo. In Blackjack, the objective is to get a higher card than the dealer, without going over 21. The players initially receive 2 cards and choose to take more till he/she submits or goes bust. Backgammon is a two player game where fifteen pieces move among twenty-four points as per the roll of the dice. Poker is a popular card game where gamblers wager on fully or partially concealed cards and the entire proceeds from a hand goes to the player with the best combination of cards. Bingo, since it’s partially based on luck and partially on speed, is a game where random numbers are announces and the player who finishes his/her card first, is the winner.

Since ages, humans have loved gambling. Throughout history, there have been instances of people gambling away to glory or misery. Since it’s not always possible to be at the land casinos, due to a variety of reasons, Internet has opened a new window for the gamblers of the world. There have been innumerable discussions on the sins and misfortunes of gambling, but it’s something that will continue to hook us as long as human race rules on the face of this earth. There cannot be any sermon here as we all know the thrills and the risks involved. Casino games have kept us hoping in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

Did you know that …

... the first mechanical slot machine was the Liberty Bell, invented in 1895 by car mechanic, Charles Fey (1862-1944) of San Francisco?

The Liberty Bell slot machine had three spinning reels. Diamond, spade, and heart symbols were painted around each reel, plus the image of a cracked Liberty Bell. A spin resulting in three Liberty Bells in a row gave the biggest payoff, a grand total of fifty cents or ten nickels.

The original Liberty Bell slot machine can still be seen at the Liberty Belle Saloon & Restaurant in Reno, Nevada.
